The Ganga Foundation believes every stakeholder must be able to reach us in the most efficient manner. We believe a direct call or an email would be the best way. We also believe in engaging with you through a person specifically identified for this purpose.

What does The Ganga Foundation do?

The Ganga Foundation focuses on enhancing the quality of lives of persons with spinal cord injury in India. Work towards this goal encompasses:

Networking of persons with spinal cord injury
Guiding on access to quality rehabilitation
Experience Sharing
Facilitating emergence of Quality Rehabilitation facilities
Working with partners on good quality mobility aids
Enabling livelihood with vocational training, equipment and small business support

What is the legal structure of The Ganga Foundation?

The Ganga Foundation registered as a Public Charitable under Section 12AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961 with effect from 24-12-2009 – DIT (E) NO 2 (934) 09-10. The application of The Ganga Foundation is entered as 130 / 2010 – 11 at the office of The Director of Income-Tax (Exemptions), Chennai.

The Ganga Foundation is approved by the Income Tax Department under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 – DIT (E) NO 2 (934) 09-10 dated 03-03-2011. This means donations to The Ganga Foundation will qualify for tax benefits by way of deduction from income. Up to 50 per cent of donation will qualify for deduction in computing income tax.

Permanent Account Number of The Ganga Foundation is AABTT8436G.

What does The Ganga Foundation fund?

Since inception in September 2009, The Ganga Foundation has funded education, vocational training and small businesses of persons with spinal cord injury; rehabilitation; quality mobility aids; The Spinal Foundation; patient training and recreational infrastructure at the Mary Verghese Institute of Rehabilitation; a therapy hall at Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, peer mentor programs and education of rehabilitation professionals on a very selective basis as long as merit and economic circumstances warrant support.

How does The Ganga Foundation fund its work?

The Ganga Foundation has a dedicated and growing number of donors, though we continue to be very careful on raising funds only when there is a need. Income earned from corpus donations also provides a source of support.

Direct and arranged lines of funding from corporate organisations, including via Corporate Social Responsibility programs, have also supported the work of The Ganga Foundation over the years.

No donor contribution goes towards compensation of S Vaidyanathan, Co-Founder, who has been devoting his time on purely pro-bono basis. Any support received for speaking engagements by S Vaidyanathan are also directed to The Ganga Foundation.

Audited financial statements, annual reports of work and income tax filings are available to the public at www.thegangafoundation.in. The Ganga Foundation is committed to the highest level of transparency to donors and other stakeholders.

As a policy, The Ganga Foundation has decided not to take any support whatsoever from the Reliance Group under any name. The Governing Board of The Ganga Foundation will exercise caution in choosing organisations from which we may take support for our work or be associated in the course of work.

How does an individual apply for funding support?

Any person with spinal cord injury or any authorised person on his behalf can approach The Ganga Foundation with specific request, including reason for seeking support, via email to help@thegangatrust.in or by calling Dastagir, Inclusion Manager – Services of The Ganga Foundation at 98413 47496.

How can you donate money to The Ganga Foundation?

You can do so in three ways:

Contribute online

You can make an online contribution using debit card or credit card.
You can do an online transfer from your bank account.
You can take part in crowdfunding campaigns and event campaigns organised by The Ganga Foundation on its own or with partners.

Can contribution be made by foreign citizens or in foreign currency?

No. As of now, The Ganga Foundation is not registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010, a pre-requisite to accept funds from foreign citizens / organisations or in foreign currency.

The Ganga Foundation, as of now, can accept only donations in INR (Indian Rupee).

Does The Ganga Foundation accept contribution in cash?

No donation will be accepted in cash form.

Do donors get receipt?

Every donor will receive a receipt from The Ganga Foundation by email. If you need a physical copy of the receipt, we will be happy to send it across to you.

Every donor must provide full name, permanent and mailing address, Permanent Account Number (PAN), mobile number and email ID. Please also send an email of the amount donated and the mode of payment to dastagir@thegangatrust.in.

The receipt, which can be used to claim tax benefits under Section 80G of the Income-Tax Act 1961, will be sent within 15 days of your donation. We do this exercise once in 15 days, as we use volunteers for taking care of our administrative work. 

If you have not received the receipt for your contribution or have misplaced the receipt, please send an email to dastagir@thegangatrust.in or call at 98413 47496. We will be happy to send you a duplicate copy of the receipt.

How can I help raise funds for The Ganga Foundation?

The Ganga Foundation depends on donations from individuals and organisations in its work to enhance the quality of lives of persons with spinal cord injury.

Here are ways by which you can raise funds for The Ganga Foundation:

You can register as a fundraiser for The Ganga Foundation by filling this form. You can raise funds from your network for a Quality Wheelchair for 1 person – 20 persons. Each quality wheelchair will cost Rs 20,000. You can create your webpage and run campaigns through Social Media.
Kotak Wheelchair Marathon is an annual inclusion event for which you can raise funds through the year at Rs 750 per runner. You could run feel good, special days and anniversary contribution from your family, friends and colleagues.
You can host awareness events that also double up as fund raisers, as long as the amount collected and / or sponsored takes care of at least the cost of the event entirely.

How can I receive information on work of The Ganga Foundation?

You will receive a copy of our Annual Report of work on January 1 every year by email.  The report will also be available at www.thegangatrust.in.
