What We Do

Enhancing the quality of lives of persons with Spinal Cord Injury underpins the work of The Ganga Foundation.

The focus is especially on enabling once a person reaches home, as that is when the real challenges of living with Spinal Cord Injury starts.

Here are a few examples that give a sense of the holistic approach adopted by The Ganga Foundation:

  • Engagement of Shailesh Kumar Sinha as a Pan-India Peer Mentor &Trainer
  • Support for Edward, a high-level quadriplegic, to lead a meaningful life
  • Education of Yogasri, a girl with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) and daughter of a person paralysed neck down, who expired in late 2016
  • Enabling Kumaresan emerge as National Champion and a contender for Paralympics in athletic events
  • Facilitation of establishment of The Spinal Foundation as Pan-India SCI Self Help Group in partnership with like-minded individuals and organisations.
  • Facilitation of expertise to set up Chandigarh Spinal Rehab
  • Sponsorship of the role of Head – Programs of The Spinal Foundation to develop a Pan-India footprint of work
  • Dr Mary Verghese Award in honour of the visionary Wheelchair Doctor who introduced rehabilitation in India

Given the mammoth scale of the challenges, by 2030, we hope to make a deep-rooted impact.

The Ganga Foundation Charter

The Ganga Foundation shall strive to be an organisation with a conscience.

The Ganga Foundation shall seek to achieve excellence in execution.

Means shall be as important as ends in all the activities ofThe Ganga Foundation.

The Ganga Foundation shall always operate with integrity and in a transparent manner.

The Ganga Foundation shall never associate itself directly or indirectly with any political, religious or caste activity.

The Ganga Foundation shall never accept any contribution in cash and/or in kind from anonymous sources.

The Ganga Foundation may accept contributions only from organisations with a reputation for ethics.

TheTrustees and employees ofThe Ganga Foundation shall maintain anonymity at places where it offers support.

The name ofThe Ganga Foundation shall be used in the public domain only for bringing in partners and spreading awareness on the cause of disability.

The Ganga Foundation shall always be prepared to learn from good, average and bad outcomes.

The Ganga Foundation shall be a paper-less organisation except for documents needed by law and for creating awareness.

The Ganga Foundation shall embrace prevailing and emerging technologies as it strives for optimum quality.
