Elango Thambiah

As the Co-Founder of The Ganga Foundation, Elango Thambiah leads the organisation. Elango brings rich expertise in start-ups, marketing, big picture thinking and a first-hand understanding of the importance of Quality Rehabilitation, especially in the context of spinal cord injury and brain injury.

Elango is a Class of 1991 Alumnus of IIM, Bangalore.

Shoma Bakre

Shoma Bakre retired from corporate life in 2012 to pursue her passion for social development that helps make a difference to the underprivileged in India. She brings two decades of expertise in CSR, entrepreneurship and media. She is the Founder of Let’s Do Some Good Foundation, a social responsibility platform.

Shoma is a management graduate from San Jose State Univerity.

Vaidyanathan Singaararaman

As Co-Founder of The Ganga Foundation, Vaidy has his first-hand knowledge of Living Well with Spinal Cord Injury since 1990. After stints at The Hindu Group and Sundaram Finance, Vaidy is now devoted fully to the cause. Rehabilitation, networking and grassroots understanding are his strengths.

A Class of 1992 Alumnus of IIM, Bangalore, Vaidy leads the grassroots work.

Dr Suranjan Bhattacharji

Dr Suranjan is the doyen of spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation in India. He developed and expanded the Mary Verghese Institute of Rehabilitation into a centre of excellence offering rehabilitation at affordable cost. Dr Suranjan is a former Director of Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore.

He has worked to enhance lives of persons with disability for four decades now.

Parakkal Unnikrishnan

Unnikrishnan is a globally renowned Carnatic singer. Over the years, he has also emerged as an award-winning playback singer in films, especially in Tamil and Malayalam. Unnikrishnan’s concert launched The Ganga Foundation at the Ida Scudder Auditorium in Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore.

Unnikrishnan has been liberally using his divine talent to support good causes.

Dr Guru Nagarajan

Dr Guru has played a vital role in integrating persons with spinal cord injury into the community. With Dr Suranjan’s guidance, he has championed several initiatives that serve as models for networking across India. He is an expert at Community Based Rehabilitation with a doctorate in this space.

As Social Worker since 1990, he brings rich understanding of grassroots reality.

Rasheeda Bhagat

Rasheeda is the Editor of Rotary News and is also an Editorial Consultant at The Hindu Group, with which she has been associated for more than 20-plus years. In her long stint in the media space, she has extensively covered livelihood issues, remote communities and insights from across the world.

Through her writings, she has sensitised society to several humanitarian issues.

Sunil Gautam

Sunil Gautam has extensive experience in advertising, marketing and public relations. His distinguished career includes stints as CEO and as founder of start-ups that became successful businesses. He is now part of Pitchfork Partners, a niche strategy firm of which he is a Co-Founder.

Sunil’s expertise in Public Relations has helped in our awareness initiatives.

Ramakrishnan Subramanian

Ramakrishnan is a pioneer in use of analytics in cricket. He has been associated with the Indian Cricket Team for 15-plus years offering insights that have helped drive performance. SportsMechanics has now emerged a global franchise working with multiple sports, teams and events.

His experience in developing a start-up patiently serves as a useful guidepost.

W S Ravishankar

Ravishankar is an expert at fund management. He has had his own wealth management firm, Banyan Tree Advisors since 2004. He has rich experience in start-ups and nurturing an organisation. Ravishankar is also a member of the Investment Committee of The Ganga Foundation.

Ravi is a Class of 1993 Alumnus of IIM, Bangalore and guides our investments.

B.G. Nath

As a Co-Founder of The Ganga Foundation, Nath Balakrishnan has played a key role in mentoring and mapping the work. Nath offers a rich understanding of marketing, finance, communication, media expertise and analytics. He has also had a decade-plus experience in acute health conditions.

Suresh Krishnamurthy

Suresh is the Managing Trustee of The Ganga Foundation. Suresh, is a low profile person, who blends an anchoring in old-world charm and contemporary thinking, a combination that is rare now. Sekhar Ramamoorthy

Sekhar is the pillar responsible for shaping and structuring The Ganga Foundation as an organisation. His long years of experience in compliance have been a significant edge for the organisation.  Accounting, taxation, auditing, legal, processes and an understanding of organisations are his forte.

Sekhar is a Chartered Accountant, highly regarded for expertise in compliance.

Vidya Subramanian

Vidya adds dynamism, enterprise and a level of sensitivity and emotional quotient that helps keep the human element in focus in debates and decisions. Vidya, a trained filmmaker and a professional journalist, has become one of the leading experts in digital media over the past decade.

Vidya is an Alumnus of Asian College of Journalism.

Grassroots Team

The Ganga Foundation places emphasis on quality people, team work and transparency. For almost seven years since 2009, we were a purely volunteer driven organisation. We were blessed with dedicated volunteers of high quality.

In May 2016, we decided to build a team in order to enhance the footprint of our work.

Our First Employee

We were privileged to have Anumeha Srivastava from Jharkhand as the First Employee of The Ganga Foundation.

A physiotherapist, dancer, choreographer, volunteer in good causes and a sensitive writer, Anumeha also had enriching experience as a therapist at the Mary Verghese Institute of Rehabilitation, an integral part of Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore.

She championed several projects of importance during her 10-month stint before she joined the MBA program at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. She hopes to use the diverse background to impact the disability space in a pronounced way in the decades ahead. She stays a volunteer of The Ganga Foundation.

As Co-Founder of The Ganga Foundation, Vaidy anchors our work in enhancing the quality of lives of persons with spinal cord injury on a voluntary basis. His 25-plus years of Living Well with Spinal Cord Injury has led to a broad-based Experience Sharing Program.

Imran is an Engineer (Information Technology) and a management graduate from the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. Imran, an expert on digital media and a self-driven entrepreneur, brings rich expertise of Living Well with Spinal Cord Injury since 2004.

Shailesh Kumar

Shailesh plays a unique role as the Pan-India roving role model and skills trainer. He is India’s most independent person with spinal cord injury. Thanks to his stint at Mary Verghese Institute of Rehabilitation, he is aware of the best practices of living with spinal cord injury. His lifestyle motivates many.

Paul Athisayaraj Joshua

Paul, an Alumnus of Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore and National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, has given a face to the initiatives of The Ganga Foundation with his creative skills. Using design intervention to impart health education has been his major contribution.

Kannadasan V.P.

Kannadasan is a post-graduate in Social Work with five years at Christian Medial College, Vellore and now a PhD Scholar at Tata Institute of Social Sciences. He is delegated to drive programs at The Spinal Foundation, an most important initiative anchored by The Ganga Foundation.

Meera Srinivasan

Meera is an engineer by background and is at present on a break from work. For three years now, she has been taking care of banking and payments on a purely voluntary basis. She has been a bastion of stability in managing the funding of our work and does so on a voluntary basis.

Md Dastagir Fasihuddin

Dastagir coordinates the backend of The Ganga Foundation and is the interface with stakeholders. His work in the disability space is of a far-reaching nature. He is the backbone of The Challenging Ones and networks with 1500 (and counting) amputees across India. He is instrumental in mainstreaming many of them.

Nagendra Bhoopathi Prabu

Prabu has been a volunteer with programs of The Ganga Foundation for six years till August 2016. He has been organising multiple events on his own to support persons with disability and the under privileged. In his role, Prabu will focus on social media management, outreach and events for all our initiatives.
